This 2012 NFL regular season starts with a major game with the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants and their rival Dallas Cowboys in this NFC East matchup plenty of emotion. The Kickoff is set for 8:30 PM ET at MetLife Stadium with telecast on NBC. Sportsbooks NFL lines opened with the Giants 4 point favorite with a total of 46.

Cowboys NFL Football Halftimes

Dallas is always amongst the most popular teams win the Super Bowl but this is based in some way on their status as a “name brand” team that their rivals Manchester United and the New York Yankees in World Wide branding. In 1995 after two consecutive Super Bowl titles, Jerry Jones drove Coach Jimmy Johnson away; since then the Cowboys have been more a pretender than an actual contender. Dallas has been a terrible value on the past two seasons as they paid out in just 11 of 32 games. QB Tony Romo is coming off the best season of his career and there is a lot of defensive talent led by DeMarcus Ware; however, the offense has suffered several injuries during the recent preseason and for this opening game, TE Jason Witten and WR Miles Austin are questionable.

A Giant Playoff Run

The Giants playoff run shown how handicapping with the NFL Lines has changed through the years and pro football is seem to be now more like college basketball’s March Madness as it’s all about the tournament and less about the regular season. Big Blue caught fire to win their final 6 games in a row, being only one game at home, to win it all after coach Tom Coughlin was as good as fired entering December. A repeat is not likely as the salary cap hit the G-Men hard with losses that included RB Brandon Jacobs and WR Mario Manningham, who had one of the most important catches in Super Bowl history. The Giants defense was not consistent and that it does not seem to change in 2012. NFL Football Lines

The Matchup

The Giants have covered 6 of their last 8 home games against the Cowboys and 5 of the last 6 overall in this head to head series. Big D has failed to get the cash in 10 of their last 12 NFC East matchups. This series have gone under the total in just 2 of the last 11 meetings.
